Skills & Equipment
I've been in the business of printing and advertising since 1987, accumulating skills in the following areas:

Production Art:

The art of pre-press; getting things ready so they come out as expected at the print shop

Design:

Setting up copy and visual elements in a pleasing way. The purpose being to attract the viewer’s attention to a given product. Be it a story, a set of dishes, or a floorplan for a homebuilder.

Web Design:

Setting up pages and sites so that they show up (pretty much) identical on various computer platforms, in various web browsers.

Animation:

Macromedia Flash. It's cool.

Layout and Design Software:

All of it. Seriously. Quark, InDesign, Illustrator, Freehand, Photoshop, you name it; if it runs on the Mac, I can probably run the program well enough to do a given job. I've even done annual reports in Microsoft Word (not recommended, by the way).

Macintosh Systems:

I keep the home Macs running. I'm well versed on OS 7-9.x for the Mac, and am becoming more familiar every day with OS X. I also have a grasp of the Windows Operating System, specifically Windows 95 and 98.

Trouble Shooting:

If it's broke, and it's an Apple, I can give you a diagnosis, and probably fix it. Computers, mind you. Not printers. I'm only so-so on printer repair.

Equipment:

I do my work on a Power Macintosh, running a dual boot system with OS 9.2.2 and OS 10.1.5. I use a wide variety of removable media, including CD/R and Zip disks, and can even manage a floppy, if necessary. My office includes a large format laser printer and a standard sized color.

This workflow is supplemented with broadband internet access and fax capabilities.
